5 Keto Tips To Help You On Your Journey

I coach people every single day, and I truly feel that if people could think about these five things, it will help them immensely. I'm not going to give you a timeframe because everybody's different. But I will tell you, these five things are super helpful.

Hey everybody! Welcome to the Keto Mom page. My name is Stephanie, I'm going to give you five tips to help you on your keto, low-carb journey.

What are the goals that you are hoping to achieve?
  • Do you want some fat loss or run a marathon?

  • Do you want to start planning your meals?

  • Do you want to eat healthier?

  • Do you want to be able to walk further?

  • Do you want to lose a couple of inches?

Are you committed? Yes or No

Your "Yes" can mean, "Yes, I'm committed until it gets hard, I get tired, I get lazy, or until I go to a birthday party"... My yes is. "Yes, I'm committed and I'm giving something up until I get it".

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀?

To hit your goals, you're going to have to give up things like the TV or some other fun things. You're going to have to go to the gym or give up going out for supper with friends. You have to be committed and you know that if you go out with them, you're going to eat something. You're going to have to plan your meals and meet up with them after.

5 EASY KETO TIPS

I coach people every single day, and I truly feel that if people could think about these five things, it will help them immensely. I'm not going to give you a timeframe because everybody's different. But I will tell you, these five things are super helpful. A

1. If you are not hungry, you don't have to eat.

It doesn't matter what kind of diet you are doing. I don't care if you're paleo, whole 30, keto, or low carb, people tend to overeat.

2. Stop snacking so much.

If you're not hungry, you don't need to eat. Oftentimes, we have food in our sight all day long. Whether it's the candy drawer, food on the cupboard, in the employee lounge, or wherever you're going. We see it and we feel like we're hungry but we're really not.

"If you're not hungry, you don't need to eat"

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴, 𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲-𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀.

Those two things will help you immensely. People can even overeat good food, so you have to be aware.

  • Am I hungry, or am I bored?

  • Am I hungry, or am I emotional?

  • Am I hungry, or do I physically see food and think I need to eat when I really don't?

3. Sugar

What are you drinking?

I want you to take inventory or be aware of what's in your shaker cup, shaker bottle, or your water bottle. People tend to drink too much sugar or calories. It's honestly kind of wild and crazy.

The amount of sugar people drink is unbelievable, and it's excess calories. You don't need it, it's a waste, and you're basically drinking your meals.

4. Drink more water.

Oftentimes, people say that they're doing really good with their food. And then I'll ask if they're drinking enough water because that could be their biggest downfall. As soon as they drink water, which is half your body weight in ounces of water, they feel better.

So always drink your water. I always have a water bottle with me, and it's always filled up. When we go to restaurants, I like to take my own water bottle with me.

5. People eat too much fat.

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝘆 "𝗞𝗲𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗮𝘁".
A true ketogenic diet is all fat. So if you're actually doing the ketogenic diet, you get to eat 80% fat because you're eating almost no carbs.
I would bet 95% of people on this page are not eating keto, they're eating low-carb.

When eating low carbs, you can have some fats like the yolks in your eggs, fatty meat, nuts, and things like that. But when people use the excuse of "It's keto, I can eat it", "I can eat as much bacon and butter as I want", or "I can eat all of the avocados that I want".

But they're not actually keto, they're low-carb. Which means you're just overeating. It comes down to how many calories you're eating. People ask if they have to count calories when doing keto. In general, you don't need to.

There are more calories in a fat gram than in a carb gram. So if you're excessively eating fats, like avocados, bacon, cheese, butter, or egg yolks, that's fine. But you better have your carbs really low if you're eating all that fat.

If you're eating low carb, like buns off the burgers, croutons off the salad, grabbing a lettuce wrap, and being mindful. You're probably still around 50 to 70 carbs a day, which means if you're eating too much fat, you're overeating.

𝗜𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗼𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹.

So you really have to understand when your body is hungry, when you should be eating, and how often you eat out of boredom, emotions, comfort, reward, or environment.

Alright! Those are the tips for the day. And if you can just be mindful and aware, I promise you, you will get to your goals. You've got to tweak some things and make better choices. Are you committed? Yes or no? How committed are you, then go for it.

"There's no such thing as perfect, so don't mess up good for perfect. The only way you fail is if you quit".

If you have one of those days and you ate everything that you saw. The next day, just try to keep going and get back up. Keep going and keep going. None of us are perfect. But if you take five seconds to think before you put food in your mouth, "Am I hungry or bored?". Your body will actually tell you.

Five seconds, "Am I hungry or bored?"... I think I'm bored.
