Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers! Welcome to the Keto Mom page, I have four daughters, and it has been a great day so far. Welcome! How was your day? Are you grilling out, are you going out, are you doing anything with family? What are you doing? We are taking our kids bowling, and then we're going fishing. So we're having a great time, we just got back from church. We had lunch, and then we're going to be going bowling and fishing, so that is our day. Where are you tuning in from, and what are you doing on this Mother's Day.

I want to say Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms and the grandmas, the stepmoms and the soon to be, the want to be mothers, because there's a lot of people who are really praying for a baby. So I love the way that our pastor said "Happy Mother's Day to the moms that are physically moms right now, or the spiritual moms, the ones that want to be moms, right here ( in the heart)".

I hope your day is incredible, and so I'm going to go through this really quick because I want to make sure I do this every single day for those of you talking about the book. If you are looking for food and recipes, just go scroll through the page every single day. We shared a blueberry muffin, we had a great hot dish the last couple days. I'm from Minnesota, I say hot dish, maybe you say casserole. If you're looking for tips and tricks and recipes, go scroll through the Keto Mom Facebook page and go look. There is no shortage of things and ideas for you to eat. If you have specific questions, private message me, I'm here to help you one hundred percent on your journey.

Welcome to day 3 of our book session

Something that I'm super passionate about, and it grows in me so much more every single day is this (mindset). Because when I talk to women, well people, but mostly women...

It's so crazy how much our mind controls how we feel, the things that we put into our mind, and the words that you're speaking over yourself. Because you're speaking over yourself, the words that you're thinking, the thoughts that you're thinking, whether you're not good enough, I can't do this, that'll never happen for me, or I'm too fat.

All of these things that you're rehearsing, things that you are speaking, guess what? You're listening! You're speaking, you are listening, and it's so important to get your mindset right. If you can flip the "I'm not good enough, and I will never be, that's not me, and I'm not lucky enough" into "I get to do this, I can do this, I will accomplish this, I will accomplish my goals"...

It's the power of your words, and if you can get your words under control, the things that you're thinking, the people that you're around, the people that you're watching then you will make better decisions over the course of your entire life. And part of that comes from reading, listening to podcasts, listening to good music, or watching good shows. So many things that we listen to, we watch, we read, the people we are around are trash.

Is it Truth or is it Trash?

I'm going to give you a really simple tip, if you have kids, I would encourage you to do this with your kids. My goal is to help our children understand who they are, and what they have, the gifts, the callings and the things that they're going to work on.

And part of it is helping them understand how to control their thoughts, watch their words and to be able to pick out truth or trash. I was taught this by my mentor, I teach it to my kids.

And so when we're listening to something, watching or reading something, or we hear something from somebody else, or somebody speaks something over our life, I'll say, "Oh no, was that truth or trash?"... They watched the movie Rio yesterday and a song came on, and I said "Whoa, what did he just say?", and they said it back. I said, "Is that truth or trash?", and they're like "Well, we didn't say it". I said you did say it, because the music said it and then you said it.

Your words have the power of life and death, don't say it, I don't like that song shut it off.

It's my job as a mom to keep our home, it needs to be a home of peace and it needs to be a home where it builds up our kids and helps them understand life and awareness of what's around them. So we love to play truth or trash... if somebody says something great I'll say "That was incredible truth just speaking over you", "Yes, that movie is speaking truth, that song is incredible", "It's amazing truth". Or I'll say "Whoa! back it up, that was trash". You have to be able to decipher that and your own thoughts, it's just playing the game "Truth or Trash".

"Rain or Shine" by Scott Alexander

So if you've got kids, I would encourage you to play the game, it's super great. So that's why I'm encouraging people to read, because you can find some incredible books to get your mindset right to go after your goals, and I just think it's super important. So we are going through chapters seven, eight and nine, if you do not have the book, it's okay. If you do have the book, how are you liking it? What are your biggest takeaways? It's a short read, are you liking the book, Yes or No?

What are you learning from the book? Is it helping you get your mindset on track? This is the book

("Rain or Shine"), we're going to be going through it all of May. And then we're going to go through a different book in June, different one in July, different one in August. I will sit here and read it to you, or some of it. You can also grab the book and read along with us, but if you don't have it, then just listen. So chapter seven says "You are on the move"... And so he just talked about, if you think about your life as a movie, people watching you, are you living a life worthy of an adventure? Think about people in your home, and let's pretend that you've got a movie crew watching you at all times, is it adventurous, is it exciting, are you bored, or are you having fun.

And so he just said, "If you think of your life as a movie, you're going to live differently. You're probably going to speak differently, you might find yourself laughing more, and you might find yourself having more adventures". Because people are watching you, you might enjoy life just a little bit more.

Yes! Inspiration lasts forever

I love chapter eight. He said this, "Are you having trouble staying or getting motivated"... Where are you at on your Keto journey right now, are you motivated and inspired, or are you going "I don't know if I can do this".

Are you motivated or are you looking for motivation? We love to say "Motivation is temporary, Inspiration lasts forever". You got to get to the point where you can inspire yourself, but until then you can watch other people, find it, learn it, speak it and teach it.

So he said "Maybe it's because you are not involved in anything worth being motivated about". So maybe you've come to this page and like I want to be on the Keto diet, but you have no idea why. Sometimes you don't even have a specific reason... Fat loss might not be enough to keep you going, you need a bigger why. I want to be healthy for my kids, I want to be a mobile grandma or grandpa, I want to be able to go on vacation with my kids and feel good about myself. Also be able to run down the beach or climb the mountain, or help babysit my grandkids someday or whatever your aura is. So he said, "If you are not taking action, it doesn't necessarily mean that you are lazy...

It's usually the case of not having a big enough reason why". Why are you here, and what do you want? So he just said, "If you want to get really motivated, attempt the impossible. When friends call you crazy and dismiss your dreams as fantasy, you are on the right track".

People will call you out for eating healthy

I'm going to ask you a question real quick, has anybody said to you "Why are you on that diet?". Do you have a friend or a close family member, somebody who's giving you grief for eating healthy, because I've had that before. Isn't it interesting how you go right along with the crowd, if you're eating the Big Macs, dinking the soda, and you're eating all the crap, people don't call you on that. I call my friend on it because we mutually will say something to each other. But we've allowed each other to do that, it's our accountability.

But isn't it interesting that nobody will walk up to anybody in a fast food restaurant and go "Hey, that's really bad for you".

But as soon as you decide and make the decision to pursue better, a couple people might come out of the woods and go, "What makes you better than me?". "Oh, you want to get skinny now, just eat the doughnut it's not a big deal". How often have you had somebody try to derail you, and I'm going to tell you something... It's not about you, sometimes people don't want to be called on their own crap. I say crap, I'm so sorry...

Sometimes people don't want to be called out, because when you're pursuing better it makes them look inward, and then they go, "I don't I need to do that, I don't want to, it's too hard", "Nah! I like to live my comfortable life, I don't want to be stretched", "I don't want to grow! But they're growing, and if they grow above me then they might leave me". So when somebody tries to derail you, or get you off your course, or tries to say that you're not worthy, then it's just reflecting on them.

So if you don't have a big enough "Why", it's going to be easy to derail you, so it's super important to know your "Why" and go after the impossible. He says, "Don't make happiness your destination"... You've got to go after that, because when you do that, when you go after your big "Why" and what you actually want, your specific, you will inspire other people to do the same. Alright, chapter nine...

"Don't make happiness your destination"
The only thing I wrote about this one, he said "A big part of defining your goals, of knowing where you want to go, is knowing where you do not want to go".

So when you're looking at your goals, and you're like "I want to be healthier, stronger, live longer, feel better, make better choices. I want to be in control, I don't want to let the world control me". You also have to know where you don't want to go, because it's in that moment of deciding you're better choice option... "I don't want to feel like crap, I don't want to feel like garbage, I don't want to feel sick, I don't want to get sick. I don't want to not be able to run with my kids". So it's a two fold... "Where are you going and where do you not want to go". Hopefully the "Not want to go" is going to push you to "The want to go". And so he told a really funny story about a snake in here that's disgusting, but it's super great.

"You are the author and the artists of your story, make your life incredible"... I think this book is great, especially for those who are just starting to read because it's a super easy read. And enough inspiration to make you take some type of action in your life, to go after whatever your better is.

So I hope all of the moms on here have an incredible Mother's Day, I think you all are amazing. Thank you for tuning into the Keto Mom page, I truly appreciate it. I love coming on here and hopefully getting to inspire some of you, helping you on your journey, giving you tips and tricks to help you take action to go after whatever it is you want in your life. So this is the book ("Rain or Shine by Scott Alexander") we're reading every single day. If you're reading the book, share with me below what you're loving about it, if you're not then just tune in every single day and I'll come on here and hopefully inspire you.

So I hope you have a wonderful day and we'll talk to you tomorrow. Bye, everybody.
