Hey everybody! I hope you're having a great Saturday. It is absolutely gorgeous where I'm at, and it's time to talk about "Rain or Shine". Happy Saturday, how are you doing? Before I start a project, a couple questions came on my mind as I was thinking about what to chat about. First of all, we are going to talk about "Rain or Shine", but it's Saturday, so I'm curious what do you do on the weekends? Do you stick with eating Keto or low carb on the weekends? I know there are some graduations going on, we just got done. Our church every year does a one morning to afternoon, like a spring cleaning day. So we did that all morning, we just got done and it was super great. Now my kids are in the lake, which you can't see. But my kids are in the lake, and I was thinking, I have a lot of cleaning to do.

So I'm going to be cleaning and swapping out all spring and winter clothes for summer clothes. It's gorgeous here in Minnesota, so I really should be outside, but it has to get done. My question to you is this "What do you do on the weekends?" Do you stay on track, do you give yourself a little wiggle room? I'm about to get the grill out tonight because I love to grill. I think it's so so easy, so I just wanted to know, do you stay on track on the weekends or do you not? How's your journey going, how is your weekend? Let me know if you have any questions, and staying on track for sure.

Welcome to day 9 of our book session

There's lots of things going on, we have cleaning, other people are cleaning too, not just me. So I'm going to give you the brief overview of chapter twenty five, twenty six and twenty seven. If you're brand new, we are going through this book ("Rain or Shine" by Scott Alexander) for the entire month of May and we are going to be going through the book called "Miracle Morning" by Hal Elrod in June. Then we're going to be going through the book called "The Travelers Gift" by Andy Andrews in July. I'll get more information about the July one, but for June you can just go to Amazon, it's called "Miracle Morning" by Hal Elrod, super great. So we've been going through the book, it's a super easy read.

The chapters are one to two pages max, and it's to help inspire you to take action on your goals. There's lots of things that we can teach you, but the number one thing that has to do with your diet and lifestyle is in this next chapter twenty five. Chapter twenty five says motivation by God, it's a great story. I tell this to people all the time, I can tell you over and over again... What to do, how to do it, if you want to track your food, you should drink more water, you should go move your body, I can give you all the things. So I had the opportunity yesterday, to be interviewed by Andy Andrews... He is the author of the books that I've been talking about. So he's the author of "The Traveler's Gift" that we're going to go through in July. He's the author of "The Noticer" and "The Noticer Returns".

I met Andy Andrews yesterday!

So many incredible books, probably one of my favorite authors. And long story short, I had reached out and said thank you, for your incredible books. I'd like to buy a whole bunch of them so that I can have my Keto Mom community read them, and he said, "You know what, I'd love to have you on my podcast".

So I got to meet him yesterday, and I am just so inspired by his books and his mindset.

We had the conversation about action, you can tell people what to do in any area of their life, in any area of your life, relationships, finances, education. It doesn't matter what it is, whatever you're seeking knowledge and wisdom about, you can go and find it. But there's only one kicker, and it's what chapter twenty talks about. Scott Alexander says you can take in all the knowledge that you want, but the key is you have to get moving, you have to take action, you've got to charge like a rhino. He says "Sometimes you have to end the prayers and start moving forward"...

Sometimes, I don't know if you guys have ever said this, but I have people that go "I'm praying about it", "Yep praying about it", "I'll let you know when I end praying about it". I think that's great, I pray about a lot of things too, but then there's a point of taking action. Have you guys ever heard the story of the man, there was a flood and he was sitting... I don't know the story to a tee but there was a flood that came into the town, and a man climbed to the top of the his house. He was sitting on top of his house, and he was praying for safety. Praying to be rescued, and along came a guy in a boat... I'm totally butchering the story, but I'm going to give an example, along came a guy in the boat, and he's like "Hey, you can hop in my boat" and the man said "No, I'm praying about being rescued". Then the story goes on, other people have been sent to get him off his roof, but he didn't take action to get to the boat or get to the helicopter. He just sat and prayed about it, because for whatever reason, he didn't feel right.

The moral of the story is this... The man died, and then he got to heaven and he said to God "Hey, I prayed that you would send somebody to save me or that you would save me". Then God said, "I don't know what you're talking about, I sent you a helicopter, and a submarine".

Take Action! Drink water!

I really butchered the story, but all I'm saying is, yes prayer is important and yes, action is important. You have to step up and step out and do something, it doesn't have to be perfect. Go for the walk, take that bun off your burger, go grab a little glass and drink your first glass of water. Maybe you just need to be thankful for something, maybe your perspective needs to change. And instead of griping about things in your life, you need to stop for two seconds, and just go look around at what you have.

I'm thankful for my home, I'm thankful for running water, I'm thankful that I've got dogs that bark, I'm thankful that I've got children that are healthy. I'm thankful that I can breathe, I'm thankful that I woke up in the morning, I'm thankful that I got to have lunch and I'm just thankful. What are you thankful for? So he said "Sometimes you have to quit planning and start taking some action", so that was chapter twenty five. Chapter twenty six goes along with another story... What he talks about is how so many people blame, shame and justify their past. He talks about unforgiveness and how that can actually take root, and that could be part of why you're not getting healthy. You're unforgiveness, you're blaming, shaming, justifying things in your past. He talks about letting that go, and he says "Move On! To get ahead in life, to be a positive influence and to be happy, you can't be dragging hate around in your life".

So oftentimes, people will blame their past, their parents or their environment... It's easy to blame, I get it. So it's time to take action, it's time to move on, and it's time to stop blaming whatever it was in your past, your emotions or anything that has happened. It's time to take some action and ownership of your health and fitness.

Are you a Rhino or a Cow?

Last chapter, twenty seven, he talks about even Rhinos get the blues. If you don't know, he wrote the first book that that I've ever read, it's called "Rhinoceros Success" by Scott Alexander.

He compares your life to a Rhino or a cow... Rhinos take action, they get things done and they have thick skin. Cows wallow in each other's poop, so they've got their head down, and they're fine with just sitting in their fields doing nothing with the rest of their life.

Cows aren't bad, but he's giving you an analogy of "Are you a rhino or are you a cow?". He says, "But even Rhinos have the blues", and he just talks about how there's disappointments in life. When you are taking action and chances in life, there will be great risk and there will be disappointments...

What are you going to do with that? Are you going to keep going or you're going to quit, and "The only way you fail is if you quit".

Switch things up to get out of that funk

Don't quit, don't be a cow, don't be a Rhino that turns into a cow. So he talks about if you get into the blues, if you get into that pattern... Oftentimes people message me and they go "Oh, I'm in a funk".

If you get into a funk, you've got to switch up the pattern. You've got to figure something out, to snap you out of it.

Go for a walk, phone a friend, find some accountability partners. Go read a book, go take a bath, go watch a movie go garden. He just says, there's got to be something that can switch the pattern to where you're out of that funk, and then you can keep going. Sometimes you're going to have those days, and it doesn't have to be a whole week, it can be a day and then you move on. "Mediocrity is easy".... So if you don't like charging after things, give that a try. If success seems like it's too much work, then go be a cow. Somebody might not like that, but sometimes the truth hurts. You might not like that either, so I'm hopping on and I wanted to let you know, it's going to be a great Saturday. We are almost halfway through the book and we're halfway through May, so we're gonna get through this book this month. We're doing "Miracle Morning" by Hal Elrod in June, and for July it's going to be Andy Andrews, "The Travelers Gift". I hope you guys have a great day, I'd love to know what you're doing this Saturday. Enjoy that, and I hope it's sunny wherever you're at, because it's beautiful here.

So I'm going to go get some housework done, and I appreciate you all, we'll talk to you soon.
