Cheat days and what that looks like | Keto Mom

Keto Mom here!

So there's a point in time that if you don't allow yourself ever to cheat, you're going to get really mad at yourself, and you might binge and never look back. So there's got to be this give and take, there's got to be this "I can control myself when I'm ready, and I get back on track". If I choose to have a cookie today, or some treats like I said I was going to after one hundred twenty days. I know tomorrow that I'm going to go to the gym, I'll probably intermittent fast in the morning. So it requires discipline, getting back on track, staying focused for a certain period of time, and then celebrating with family or friends, choosing the "Either- Or" option.

Hey, my name is Stephanie, first of all welcome to the Keto Mom page. I'm sitting in my car, outside ballet. Happy election day, I have been cleaning my house, and we're having a little election party in a little bit. Just a fun day. Where are you tuning in from, how is your day, did you vote?... You don't have to say who you voted for. I know, everybody has different opinions. I'm not going to sway you or ask you what you're voting, I'm just saying did you vote? Okay, here's the question... "When can I have a cheat day, do I ever have a cheat day, or can I have a cheat day every week?". The question is all around cheat days, that's all I'm gonna talk about for this, this little video. And I want to give you perspective, everybody is different.

We all have different fitness goals

My goals currently today, with my lifestyle is first of all, I have been working out really hard. I'm not looking to lose any fat, I'm not looking at any fat loss at all. In fact, I am so sore today that I was telling my girls like I can barely move, my body hurt so bad, a good hurt. I do love CrossFit. My food choices... I eat low carb, I'm not super strict Keto, I drink Ketones. I don't measure anything, I probably eat way too much protein.

But there's a reason that I do that just for my own personal, what I'm working on building muscle. So my goals are different than your goals. If somebody came to me and said, "Stephanie, can I have a cheat day once a week, or what is a cheat day look like for you?". I just want to explain what my cheat days look like, maybe yours, or why you should do one or why you should not.

If somebody comes to me and says, "Hey, I'm just starting my journey. I want to lose fifty pounds. Can I have a cheat day once a week?". I will say this If you have a cheat day, I often say "Don't make it a whole cheat day".

You will have to get back on track

Maybe you do great all week, and on the weekend you binge. What's going to happen? Oftentimes when somebody binges on one full day and eats whatever they want, they have to get back on track, you have to get back on track.

So here's the deal, if you have a cheat day, you have to mentally get back on track the next day. But what's going to happen, you are going to spew up, you're gonna cause crazy cravings in your body. You might have a cheat day, and then it might cycle into the next day and you're going to go "Oh it's fine, it's Saturday and Sunday, I'll get back on track on Monday". I've given this example before, but maybe you go into the office, to a party or somebody comes over to your home.

Steve's Grandma just came over, my husband's grandma with an entire bag of cookies, and she goes "Here you go, I made you some peanut butter cookies". That kind of stuff happens all the time. So what can happen is your cheat day turns into the cheat weekend, then turns into the cheat week, which turns into the cheat month, which turns into the cheat year, and then you're back where you started. So here's the deal, if you were going to have a cheat day and whatever that looks like for you, you better mentally be ready to get back on track.

I don't keep the foods in my home that I might want to cheat on, so if I were to have a cheat meal, or a dessert, it is at a restaurant or it's at somebody else's house. My sister makes wonderful cookies, I do not take them home with me. Or I love pizza, and so I don't ever keep frozen pizzas in our freezer ever. I will order my favorite pizza and it is the amount that we need and then it's gone. I don't like to have things spill over into the next day. So I will tell you to be completely honest, I'm probably going to have a dessert tonight, a treat. But I have not eaten one sugary treat since the beginning of July. Nothing, I have not eaten chips or any type of sweet in at least one hundred twenty days. There was reasons for that, I did it for a particular reason. And I said I was going to do it up until today, and then I was going to have a treat Here's what I will tell you, I believe firmly in having a lifestyle approach to this. You can have the discipline to have a pizza, or to enjoy yourself with friends.

Everything takes discipline

When you have the discipline to do that when you have a treat, then you can get back on track. I don't feel the greatest when I eat those foods, my favorite treat is a cookie. If I just have a chocolate chip cookie, I probably won't feel very good if I choose to eat it. And the longer you eat better, and you go back to eating just, you might second guess it next time, you have a cheat day.

So let's talk about the holidays coming up, what I would say is "If your goal is to get to the end of the year, and have this lifestyle on track, feel great about yourself, then don't cheat, or don't give yourself a whole bunch of treats leading up to Thanksgiving". We'll be celebrating Thanksgiving on the weekend with my husband's family. So we'll do really great up until then, and then I'm going to talk about "Either- Or". I don't love bread and biscuits, but I'm gonna eat the mashed potatoes. So on Thanksgiving, instead of the potatoes and the bread, I'll have the mashed potatoes and the meat, salad and the veggies. Then I'll go all the way till Christmas, and I'll do the same thing. And I'll have the mashed potatoes instead of the bun or maybe like the bread instead of the mashed potatoes or the pumpkin pie instead of the pecan pie.

So there's a point in time that if you don't allow yourself ever to cheat, you're going to get really mad at yourself, and you might binge and never look back.
I drink Ketones, it suppresses my appetite

So there's got to be this give and take, there's got to be this "I can control myself when I'm ready, and I get back on track". If I choose to have a cookie today, or some treats like I said I was going to after one hundred twenty days. I know tomorrow that I'm going to go to the gym, I'll probably intermittent fast in the morning. I drink Ketones every day, Ketones suppress my appetite.

So if I cheat the next day, it is not a magic pill, but the next day I get back up and I get back on track. So you have to have something that gets you back on track. And think to yourself, if you can do really great for the next three weeks until Thanksgiving is here, you can have a great time with your family on that one day. There's always something that you could do in a month, you've got Christmas in December, maybe you have something in January. What can you look forward to on that one day, that allows you to have a little bit of freedom. And then when you get to where I am today, or my goal isn't fat loss, you might have a different approach to your lifestyle.

In the beginning, you might be really strict, and as you reach your discipline, as you find the things that work for you, as you see the fat loss drop, as you get closer to your goal... Maybe every Saturday, you have a treat in the evening, or maybe you have something on a Sunday. But remember, everybody's on a different journey.

Ketones help me everyday

I'm not going to tell you, you can have a treat every single week, because that might throw you off every single week. So it requires discipline, getting back on track, staying focused for a certain period of time, and then celebrating with family or friends, choosing the "Either- Or" option.

So here's the deal, "How do Ketones work?"... I talked about it often, I drink them every day. It's just a packet you put in water, I've been drinking them for five years. Yes, they do work, they are not all created equal. If you want to know the product that I drink, I mail out trial kits every day. Just post five or ten in the comments and I'll talk to you about them. I'll share a video with you, some research and education on them.

But I do drink them every single day they suppress my appetite. I haven't taken a nap in five years, I feel incredible. And Ketones are for whether it's for fat loss, focus, better mood, better sleep, appetite control.

I've got fitness, amazing friends that are into fitness that helps with muscle preservation. You guys should see my muscles after CrossFit. I'm just kidding, but not but I am getting a ton stronger. So here's the deal, I hope that helps you with your cheat question. I get that every day "Can I cheat, what can I cheat on?", it's going to depend on where you're at on your journey. I would highly recommend not making an entire cheat day but starting out with a snack, and getting back on track. Then a holiday and then getting back on track.

Creating a lifestyle so that you don't feel that you never get to have anything you don't fall back into the old ways of eating for a year. So it's mindset, it's getting back on track, accountability, all of those things coupled together.

Pickles or brush your teeth, it works

Reach out if you have any other questions. Here's my last thing, and it works. For those of you who get to the end of the night and you're like "I just want something sweet" I often have people go, "Ugh!, I sit on the couch, I have this snackiness". When supper is done, and your kitchen is closed, there are two things that work.

If you're still in the kitchen, eat a pickle. I know it sounds crazy, but it works. The pickle, the pickle juice takes away the sugary cravings. I keep pickles in my fridge, it works every time. If you want a chocolate chip cookie, go eat a pickle. If the kitchen is closed and you don't want to eat anything else, go brush your teeth.

Use some mouthwash, shut the lights off in the kitchen, grab a glass of water and sit on the couch. Pickle or brush your teeth, I know it sounds crazy but they both work. I promise they will help with your nighttime cravings every single time. So I will get back with all of you about the Ketones, messaged me with questions. Have a wonderful evening. If you have not voted, go vote, encourage your family to vote. It's so important, don't ever think that your vote isn't worth it or that you're not worth it because every single person has value to add. So I hope you guys have an amazing night. Let me know what questions you have private message me and I will help you with whatever questions that you have.

So I'm gonna go grab my kids. I will talk to you soon. Bye, everybody.
