"It's the small, seemingly insignificant habits that you neglect, that distract you from your dreamsThe secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine. Change your routine and you will change your life". ~Terri Savelle Foy
Welcome to the Keto Mom page, my name is Stephanie. We are going through "Dream It, Pin It, Live It" by Terri Savelle Foy.
The basis of the book is setting S.M.A.R.T. goals, creating vision boards, and really starting to focus on our goals for next year. Do not wait, but start now.
The last little bit of this book is talking about things that you should be doing every day as you stay focused, and as you go after the things that you want. Yesterday we talked about the habit of "Listening". Listening to podcasts, or learning from other people that have already done what you've done.
READING
Habit number two is reading. I also talk about that a lot, and there are some really great insights in the next couple of pages. If your goal is to lose some fat, have better relationships, get a new job, or focus on your finances, I promise you, this book will help you in any area of your life.
"Statistics show that 58% of adults never read another book for the rest of their lives. 42% of college students never read another book after they graduate, and 80% of U.S. families do not buy or read a book last year. 70% of U.S. adults have never been in a bookstore".
It's pretty interesting the amount of wisdom and knowledge that you can learn from other people that have already gone before you and have already accomplished the goals that you want. If you just figured out what you're going after, you can find a book that will teach you how to go further faster.
Oftentimes people will say they don't have time. No excuse! You have time for what you make time for. I
"I want to challenge you to do something continually, educating yourself every day for at least 20 minutes".
So we're wrapping up this book here very soon and going through a new book called "Divine Fingerprint" by Keith Craft, starting January. I would love to know if you've created vision boards, you can send me a picture because I'd love to see it.
Some people listen to audible books as they're driving, showering, or putting on makeup. That's the easiest way to listen to something for sure.
"Have you ever been bitten by an elephant? How about a mosquito? These may sound like silly questions, but the point is that it's little things that bite you. It's the small, seemingly insignificant habits that you neglect, that distract you from your dreams".
Think about these little excuses, that people tell themselves all the time...
It's just one day, it's not a big deal.
What does it really matter?
Nobody even sees what I'm doing anyways.
Reading for 20 minutes is not going to make a difference.
I have so far to go, it's not even worth it.
"People are rewarded in public for what they practice in private. You will be rewarded for your routine".
So if you want to lose 30 to 50 pounds by June, you're going to have to consistently do your actions that people might not see and tell you good job on.
They're not seeing how you packed your lunch, that you said no to the donut, or that you did not hit your snooze button and you went to the gym at five o'clock in the morning.
There are things you're going to have to do, day in and day out, that seem repetitive but it's all worth it. It's consistent action over time, that will get you to your goals. Don't make excuses, and part of it is reading and getting your mind right.
It's also listening to audible books or podcasts in the mornings so that you're in the right state of mind to make better decisions.
"The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine. Change your routine and you will change your life".
We will be talking about other habits that are coming up. We'll wrap those up here this week, and we'll wrap the book up too. I actually need to create my vision board. I already have my goals for next year, and my girls have been doing theirs too.
It's not rocket science, but it's giving yourself some time.
Take out a journal or a notebook and start writing down the dreams that you have. Narrow it down to 10 things, and put pictures and visions of what you're wanting next year. We talked about actions on how to get to your goals and dreams.
We talked about the power of your mindset. If you have a goal in your mind that you have not written down, and is not in front of you every single day. Then the likelihood of that goal happening is unlikely. I would challenge you to do the work, sit down and write out your dreams. Find a book to read, or join us for January's book. I do a book almost every single month.
You can also go to ketomomsecrets.com, it's our website where you can click on recipes and tips on how to get started. You can click on the Book Club, so you can read the different books we've been going through for over a year now. It's where you can get some ideas for books too.
"Knowledge isn't power. It's applied knowledge that has power".
And so as you start reading good books, listening to podcasts, and people who are really inspirational, you're going to learn so much that it's going to start getting into your mind and you'll start taking those actions.
Actions for sure need to be intentional, but you'll find yourself watching your words and paying attention. You'll find yourself more ambitious if you're reading good and solid books.
I truly appreciate you, your presence matters. Today is going to be a great day. Choose wisely, think, and let your mind be positive. Stop for a moment and take a breather because your choices matter. Every day you get to choose, so choose your attitude, choose the food you eat, choose how you treat people, and it starts with your mindset. Have a good morning and we'll talk to you later. Bye, everybody!
