"The first step towards getting somewhere significant is to decide that you are not going to stay where you're at. Once you're moving, you have to keep moving". ~Dexter Yager
Good morning! Welcome to the Keto Mom page, my name is Stephanie. As you're tuning in, where are you tuning in from? Do you enjoy going to a fair? If you were living in my town, you would love it. We are born and raised here in Minnesota, where the biggest County Fair is located and it's so much fun.
I will be giving you some ideas because the point of this page is to help you on your journey. Whether you're keto, low carb, or you just want to get healthy and make this a lifestyle. The point of this page is to give you recipes and to answer your questions. You can message me with any questions, I can give you some ideas to help you understand that you can do it. Hopefully, it will inspire you and help you with your mindset.
You can find a ton of recipes, options on how to get started, and information about keto reboot kits. You can also see our Book Club, where you can plug in and learn more about mindset in general. Here's what I want to read to you today to help you with your mindset. It's from this book called "The Pursuit" by Dexter Yager
"The first step towards getting somewhere significant is to decide that you are not going to stay where you're at. Once you're moving, you have to keep moving".
That's actually the first step in deciding that you want to be better and hit your goals. The first step towards going somewhere significant in your life, achieving your goals, and going after something that you want, is to decide that you're not going to stay where you're at.
You have to make the decision that you're not going to stay here anymore, and you're going to move forward. You're going to do it, whether it's by yourself or with somebody.
Regardless if the people around you believe in you or not, you have to decide.
And that actually is huge, because a lot of this health, fat loss, or hitting your goals, has to do with your mindset and your thoughts. When you decide, when you commit, and when you believe that you can, you will, and you're going to get it. I'm not saying in a week, two weeks, or even a month. But your decision is so important. Because if you dabble in your decision process if you waver back and forth, and if you don't believe that you can do it, then you're not going to hit those goals.
"The most important thing is to be able to, at any moment, sacrifice what we are for what we could become. If at first, you don't succeed, try something harder. The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the little extra. It's doing a little extra".
It's one more! There's a book that we went through called "The Power of One More" by Ed Mylett. Are you willing to do one more? Can you do one more? For example, during Crossfit work out. Could I have done 31 wall balls instead of 30? If my daughter told me to do just one more, I totally would have done it, but I did not do it.
How about you? ...
Can you do one more?
Can you do one more day of eating healthy?
Can you do just a little bit more?
Can you walk a little bit further?
Can you say no to all the food at the fair?
"What's in it until we push ourselves? The ones that know it all, don't grow at all. You're here to grow. Life is about growing".
I can give you the recipes, and I can tell you the how-tos. But if you're not willing to grow in your mindset, and in general as a person, then it will never work. If you want to achieve 30 pounds of fat loss or get healthy, then you've got to be willing to do it.
So for example, yesterday at the gym. I said, "All right, we're all going to work out. Don't ruin it at the fair". And then somebody made a comment and said, "That's why I work out, so I can eat whatever I want".
"How is it that people can work out so hard and still not achieve their goals?", or "How can people work out so hard and yet still stay pretty similar to where they're at?".
It's because they're not considering the food and alcohol that they're eating and consuming. Alcohol consumption usually has to do with alcohol and sugar. Your food is way more important than your workout. If you're not willing to work on the amount of food, and the things that you're drinking, then you might not see significant changes.
You can do whatever you want! But if you have goals, then you have to change some of the routines, habits, and things that you're eating and drinking. It's having awareness, that you cannot outwork a bad diet. I'm not saying that you can't have a treat or a cheat meal.
CHEAT MEALS/ DAY
I had somebody message me last night saying she really wanted a cheat day. It's not about having a cheat day. If you're going to have something that you wouldn't normally have, then it's completely up to you, go for it. But just think about one cheat meal and not the whole day.
The biggest thing with a cheat meal or a cheat day is getting back on track.
Let's say I decided to eat so many donuts, what's going to happen? Especially if I haven't had those many doughnuts in a while. So if I decided to eat them again, it's going to react in my body. If I decide to eat some of the buckets of chocolate chip cookies, it's going to cause my body to have an instant reaction to sugar.
Have you ever eaten a Keto cookie? Whether you made it or if it's prepackaged. If you eat something that has Monk fruit or a different type of sugar, you never crave another one ever. But if you eat Oreos for example, what happens? Your body instantly reacts to the sugar, and it's like an addiction to that sugar. Instead of eating just one Oreo, you will need the entire pack of Oreos. That's how your body reacts to the processed white junky sugar.
So if you have a cheat meal, it's going to cause your body to want more.
So if you keep restricting yourself, you keep getting frustrated, and you go binge, then you might never get back on track. If you decide today that you're going to go eat whatever you want, then you'll need to go combat the cravings the next day and get back on track.
It's a choice. Enjoy yourself, and get back on track.
Alright! That's it! Otherwise, continue to tune into the page, and you can also go to ketomomsecrets.com for more recipes. Here's a little lesson you have to pay attention to and see if it actually applies to you. Have you guys heard of "Shrinkflation?". It means they're trying not to raise the prices, but they are lessening the amount of food that you get. Pay attention to the serving sizes.
There are some options you can get if you choose to go to the fair. If you choose to go to the fair or any type of fun park carnival, just know that your body is going to react to the sugar that you're going to eat, but you just really need to get back on track the next day.
I don't care if you cheat, but what I do care about is for people to understand if you have cravings, you just really have to get back on track. Don't wait till January to talk to me after you go to the fair and then decide to get back on track.
"The first step towards going somewhere significant is deciding that you're not going to stay where you're at".
It's the decision-making. I have decided to go to the fair every single day this week because we love it. I also have decided that I don't need any of the junk at the fair, so I make my kids eat at home. But my kids still can eat the treats at the fair.
So that's it! I just wanted to come and encourage you. I love books! I think the power of having a mentor, and the power of watching people through listening to podcasts is very important. The number one thing is personal development in yourself and learning how to be better, whatever you're looking for. You can learn from other people that have already done it.
Alright! That's it! If you have any keto questions or low carb questions, send me a message and I'm here to help whether it's just getting started. Otherwise, I look forward to hearing from you. I hope you guys have an incredible morning.
Your mind is powerful. I hope you all got up this morning and believed in yourselves. I hope you all had a positive mindset.
If you're sitting there and you're super crabby, try to write down three things that you're thankful for.
Raise your eyebrows and put a smile on your face, and it will change the way that you're feeling. Don't be a crabby person, because people don't want to be around crabby people. If I see you at the fair and you don't smile at me.
Choose to be happy and choose to be thankful! You've got a lot of things to be thankful for. I truly appreciate you, and I'm thankful for you. Have a good morning and we'll talk to you soon. Bye!
