Good morning! Welcome to the Keto mom page. All right! I know what you're thinking, "Wow! Stephanie is really late". I'm late by choice, we had our last volleyball game last night, and it was way out of town. If you don't know, we have four daughters and two of them ventured into volleyball this year. One is in high school volleyball, on the 10th-grade team. Let me tell you if you have a kid in high school, and one in junior high, like me. We live in a pretty small town, and the reason I'm saying all of this is because it's almost like you're getting rolled to the sport as the parent. And it's been an incredible season, last night was our last game which was way out of town. It was over an hour away, and everybody just stayed late.
So anyway, we got home late and the girls didn't go to bed till around midnight or later. We all decided to sleep in, but my alarm clock went off to get up in the morning. So I woke up and I was like, "Oh,! I promised I was going to do my mindset morning at 7:30"... And my husband said, "Or you can just say you're working on your A.Q. again". So we slept in, and it actually felt great!... Anyways, as you're tuning in, where are you tuning in from? We are just getting our day started, it's great...
I don't have my book that we're going to do, but starting on Monday we're going to start that book called "Chasing Daylight" by Erwin McManus.
We're going to start the book on Monday. So I was thinking about what I can share with you today. The last couple of days we've talked about E.Q. and A.Q. There is a book that I'm going to show you, I usually say it's one of my all-time favorite books, but I have so many favorite books. This book though is hard to get, and I probably will never do it here on the page because you physically can't get it. If you do, you might pay a ridiculous amount of money for it. So I'm just going to read something out of here for you. I have a thought for you this morning. This book is called "The Pursuit" by Dexter Yager.
And the only reason why we have this book and a whole bunch of copies, we actually bought a hundred of them for our team, is I got a hold of one of the people that distributed the books. And there were only about a hundred copies left in the warehouse that they had. You can find it on Amazon, but I saw one of these books going for $900 and once there was one that was around $400. So if you find the book, and it's for a reasonable price, it's really a great book. Here's it is, if you want to take a screenshot or if you're just looking for an easy read or an easy-to-understand book. It is an incredible book! I am going to read something to you, I've highlighted it and it's so good.
Alright! In one of his chapters, he said "Success is hard work"... I've talked about this often, but I'm going to say it again because you need to hear things at least sixteen or seventeen times before it sticks.
He said "Ideas are fun things but they don't work unless you work. Knowing without doing is like plowing without sowing. Ambition never gets anywhere until it forms a partnership with work. So many people quit, (who were so much better than he was). They were "wanabees" but not "workabees". Few dreams come true by themselves. The test of a person lies in their actions. I've never heard of anyone stumbling into something big while sitting down. Even a mosquito doesn't get a slap on the back until he starts to work. A famous poem by an unknown author states 'sitting still and wishing makes no person great'. The good Lord sends the fish but you must dig the bait. The smallest deed done is better than the greatest intention"...
And so the book said the smallest deed done is better than the greatest intention. It's just incredible! What I want people to understand, and I think you know this... You can't collect all of the knowledge, all this wisdom and say, "I've got all these Keto Recipes, I know how to eat keto, I've got to drink water, I've got to look at my carbs, I know how to do it, I've got to eat some fat". You have to do the work too! It's an incredible book, and it's an incredible thought, it's a hundred percent right.
"Knowing without doing is like plowing without sowing"... You have to put in the work, you have to want to get healthy, you have to want to eat better. I mean, you have to want to do, what I tell you to do.
Maybe you watch a bunch of other keto pages... You have to take what you learn, or the books that you've learned from, and put them into action. What is the secret? Action! What is the secret? Consistent action over time!
He said that nobody he knew, (he was a very successful man) got anywhere without putting in the work. So I just want you to know something... I wish I could just say "Don't eat that". I wish I could tell everybody throughout the day, "You're making a better choice", "Oh, here, try this"... But part of it is having the grit, the determination, and you've got to feel it in your heart. We've talked about this in so many of the books, you've got to want it. Do you want it? What do you want? The lack of vision gets you nowhere. Lack of action gets you nowhere... I'm doing a Q&A later this afternoon, we started yesterday. Of all the questions, people asked about keto and low carb. But one of the questions was, "How do I stay mindful?", "How do I stay positive?", or "How do I constantly keep my mindset in a positive direction?"... I want you to know, being intentional about getting up in the morning, being thankful, looking around your home, at your kids, and at your work. Or the things that you make you say, "Oh, I have to". No! "You get to"... There's a lot of people that would love to do what you do and to have what you have, globally...
Speaking of which, just this last week one of our friends was hosting a pastor, a man from Uganda who we've gotten to learn so much from this week. I got to sit down and ask him questions, he's here with our church and a couple of days ago I said, "Timothy, I'm not trying to be rude but when you come to America, is it hard to go back to Africa? Is it hard to go back to Uganda, to almost 900 Children in an orphanage that you take care of? Is it hard to go back and not be angry or have feelings towards America, or what do you feel?"...
And he was like "No". He comes here to partner with churches and to help take care of those kids. He doesn't come here with a comparison. I am saying this because of the comment that was asked yesterday, "How do you stay mindful?".
He came here, he's thankful, and he's grateful. He reads and he works on himself, so he can pour himself into those kids and his staff that takes care of those almost 900 kids.
How do you keep your mindset in a positive direction? Which is ultimately going to determine the work that you do. If you're not in a positive state of mind, if you're not reading, if you're not growing, if you're not thankful, if you don't have a thankful heart, if you're not learning from others, then you're going to compare. You're going to be angry, and you're not going to do the work.
So Timothy comes over here with a thankful heart, he goes back to serve those kids with a thankful heart, and he is not angry.
I would say if you're comparing your life or let's say there's a certain way you want to look. You just need to be thankful. Get up every single day and say, "I'm thankful for this". Look at what you already have, look at what you get to do. Not what you "have to" do, but what you "get to" do. Work hard, read, and learn from others. How do you stay in a positive mindset? It's a decision, it is a choice that you "get to" do. It's doesn't just fall in your lap, you don't just get blessed with a positive mindset, you have to work on it. Just like working on your health every day, you can do it if you're willing to put in the work.
Exactly what he said, but I'll say it one more time. He says "Knowing without doing, is like plowing without sowing. Ambition never gets you anywhere until it forms a partnership with work"...
And so today, I would love for you to just be mindful. Look at what you have, and be thankful. Know that this is going to determine every action that you put forth in the day, and you have to work. You're going to have to work. Alright! That is your thought for the day. This is an incredible book! If you're looking for a book to read on the side at home, if you can find this book, it's awesome. Otherwise, I am going to continue to get up in the mornings, we did sleep in today but it felt great. So I hope you have an incredible day. I appreciate you all and we'll talk to you soon.
