Morning Mindset: Own Your Morning!

Updated: Sep 9, 2022

There is a huge difference between a peacefully owned morning or being behind on your morning. What's going to depict your day are the choices that you make. That is why I truly believe that owning your morning is one of the most valuable secrets of helping somebody on their health journey.

Hey everybody! Welcome to the Keto Mom page and the Keto Mom Secrets, my name is Stephanie. I'm so excited to talk to you and help you on your journey every single day, with a different thought or something to help you go further faster.

You can actually learn from other people if you have books, podcasts, & people in front of you that have already gone before you. It helps you go further faster because you're not having to sift and sort and try to figure it out on your own. That's the power of books and podcasts, you're learning from people that have already done it.

So today, I'm going to talk about a book that we've already talked about many times. Sometimes we need a reminder, and we need to hear it over and over again before we finally get what the message is about. Most people come and ask me to tell them how to eat and what to do.

I will tell you how to eat, but there are some other things I want you to focus on.

  • Faith

  • Family

  • Friends

  • Fitness

  • Fun

  • Finances.

𝗪𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

There are things that you need to understand and have an awareness of. You need to know that you don't have to fall trap to your past and that you can change but it takes work.

If you want something different, you've got to do something different.

So the book is called "The Miracle Morning" by Hal Elrod. If you've heard me talk about this book before, have you implemented it? The Miracle Morning means you get up in the morning, and you finish all of the things you need to do that are going to improve your mindset. You need to finish the things that you want to do to improve your life before eight o'clock in the morning, or before whatever your timeframe is.

It's owning your morning and owning your life.

Get up with an exciting and grateful heart that you are blessed with another day. What are you going to do with it? Do you believe that you're a morning person or a night owl?

I used to say that I was a night owl. I would stay up so late because in my head I was getting all of these things done. And yet the morning would roll around and I would be non-functional because I didn't have the focus to get up. I didn't understand the power of reading and journaling and just sitting. I didn't understand the miracle morning.

Oftentimes people feel like they can never do that. But YES you can! It's just a matter of changing timeframes. There are a couple of things I want to read to you. I'm not going to read you the entire book, but I want to give you an understanding of why it is so important if you have goals.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴?

I truly believe owning your morning is one of the most valuable secrets of helping somebody on their health journey. When you own your morning, you get up differently than if you stayed up late last night and you roll out of bed.

Try getting up with intentional action, excitement, and gratitude...
  • I'm blessed with another day.

  • I'm so excited to do these things.

  • I get to go to work

  • I get to be with my spouse

  • I get to hang around my kids

  • I get to go be a teacher

  • I get to go be a waitress

  • I get to go help people with their fight

Whatever it is that you are blessed to do. You might not love where you're at today, but your attitude will shift yourself and your environment. Get up with an attitude of gratitude in the morning. Change your words, instead of saying "I have to", switch it to "I get to". That is going to empower you for your day.

Get up, own your morning, and do the things you need to do, like reading, journaling, and sitting in silence for five minutes to let your brain gather itself.

  • You get to go to the gym.

  • You get to move your body.

  • You get to.

𝗔𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴.

You didn't just roll out of bed after hitting snooze three times and then running late. You didn't eat breakfast, you're hungry, and then your kids are yelling at you because you forgot their school bag.

There is a huge difference between a peacefully owned morning or being behind on your morning. What's going to depict your day are the choices that you make. If you are running late and you become crabby, you most likely will grab the donut, skip the workout, yell at your employees, or skip something that's super important to you.

But when you get up with intentionality, focus, and an attitude of gratitude, then you will truly be able to follow "The Miracle Morning".

"I believe it is crucial for us to embrace the perspective that anything that another person has overcome or accomplished is simply evidence that anything, and I mean anything we need to overcome or want to accomplish is possible for us".

"No matter what our past or our current circumstance is. It begins with accepting total responsibility for every aspect of our life and refusing to blame anyone else. The degree to which you accept responsibility for anything in your life is precisely the degree of personal power that you have to change and create anything in your life".

You might say that I don't know your past, or I don't know what happened to you. I don't know the things you've gone through. The author also talks about that in this book. He also had some incredibly terrible circumstances he had to work through.

And it wasn't just a year, but it was years of craziness that he had to overcome. So whether it's health or finances, he actually battled for his life. He was going bankrupt, and everything in between, and there were things that he probably needed to seek counsel for.

"It's important to understand that responsibility is not the same as blame. While blame determines who was at fault for something, responsibility determines who is committed to improving things".

Oftentimes, people say that their parents didn't teach them how to eat healthily, or that they did not have people around them to encourage them... But then you actually have control over your mind. You can also find online mentors, read books, and you can get up early so you can own your morning.

𝗡𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗶𝘁.
Take responsibility! You might not love where you're at today, but you can totally change your attitude.
You can change! Whether you get up in the morning with a positive or a negative attitude, you are responsible for the food that you put in your mouth.

You have total control over your choices and your attitude every day, regardless of how you were raised. You can take responsibility as an adult. Have an awareness of walking through forgiveness and not being bitter about life. You might not forget the things that have happened to you, but we have to learn how to forgive.

You can decide to draw a line in the sand, and start owning your morning, your day, and your choices. You can be responsible from here on out for what you're going to do. You can move forward and decide that nothing is going to stop you with your goals. Or you can have a victim mentality.

A lot of people have a victim mentality. You can hear it in their language, you can see it in the way they do life. Because they blame shame and justify what has happened.

"Know that wherever you are in life right now, is both temporary and exactly where you are supposed to be. You have arrived at this moment to learn what you must learn so that you can become the person that you need to become, to create the life that you truly want".

"Even when life is difficult or challenging. Especially when life is difficult and challenging. The present is always an opportunity for us to learn, to grow, and to become better than we've ever been before".

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲, 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝘁.

There are things that I will teach you all day, all the time. I say teach, as in I read all the time and I am constantly learning. Here are some things that are just in our verbiage every day... What was your biggest takeaway? What did you learn from that conversation? How is it going to help you grow? Is there anything in those conversations that you can take away and become better

It's also something that we ask our kids, whatever we're experiencing throughout the day, or anytime something exciting or not so exciting happens. You can just yourself those questions as well, after something happens, during a conversation, or after a meeting.

I have a big white piece of paper, and I like to write things on that piece of paper throughout the year, that we are blessed with, that we are thankful for, and things that I don't want to forget.

How often are we so excited one day because we did something great? Things like, we owned our morning, we had a great attitude, or we journaled. So get yourself a "remember wall", just like what we have on our wall here. You can also get a journal or someplace to write things down throughout your year.

Every single day or throughout each month, when you are thankful for something, you reached a goal, you were blessed with something, or just something significant happened in your life, you can write about it.

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿...
You may have days and moments in your life where things happen, and you love it, and you're so thankful for those little moments.

Write down the blessings, the things you're thankful for, and things that God and other people have blessed you with. If you write these things down, then on days that you are a little emotional and you didn't make the best choices, you can go back to the remember wall or the remember journal to remind yourself that you are blessed and highly favored.

Remembering where you came from and the things that have happened, are so important to propel you forward.

It's the little things like...

  • We had a really great day with our kids.

  • I'm so thankful for that date when I got to connect with my spouse.

  • That was a really great meeting at my job.

  • I walked one more mile than I'd ever done before.

We oftentimes look at success and compare ourselves with people on social media. But we don't see the eight-year story of their success. So when we're trying to measure success in any area of our life, it's usually compared to somebody who's already been working on it for years. When you should measure success by your own self... Can you walk further? Are you making better choices? Simple health and fitness success is not depicted by your scale, it is in the habits and the systems that you're creating over time, that should tell you if you are successful or not.

Your habits and systems decide where you're going to be in the next year.

𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱.
  1. Did you get up or did you not?

  2. Did you journal and did you take some time to be mindful or did you not?

  3. Were you listening and watching garbage on the TV?

  4. Did you listen to somebody who's going to lift you up and teach you something, or did you not?

  5. Did you drive through the drive-thru or eat the bag lunch in your seat that you're already packed?

  6. Did you decide to go to the gym or make an excuse?

  7. Did you decide to yell at your kids?

  8. Did you learn what EQ is and how to handle your emotions to be a better parent?

  9. Did you decide to do this or that because somebody could follow you throughout your day?

So here's where you're going to end up next year... You're either going to be further or you're not. You're going to accomplish your goals or you're not. All you have to do is watch people's actions, watch their habits, look up their systems and listen to their words. If you truly pay attention to the things that people are watching, it's either you're going to be successful, or you're not going to be successful. That might feel mean, but it's the truth.

LIFE S.A.V.E.R.S from the MIRACLE MORNING

  1. SILENCE

  2. AFFIRMATIONS

  3. VISUALIZE

  4. EXERCISE

  5. READING

  6. SCRIBING

It just takes 6 minutes of your day. Some people don't want to give their morning an hour to do things to make them better. Give yourself a minute in each area instead. One minute of silence. It's actually quite refreshing. One minute of affirmations. Can you look at yourself in the mirror and go, "I am strong", "I am incredible", or "I'm a leader". It might sound weird, but your words have power.

Visualization, sit for one minute today and just think of where you want to be at the end of this year. Let's not even talk about next year or in five years. You've got a good amount of time from now until the end of the year to create different habits, implement some better routines, get up in the morning and give yourself some time.

𝗢𝘄𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴! 𝗗𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂!

One minute of Exercise. You can do some squats and push-ups. And then one minute of Reading, Scribing or writing down some things you're thankful for. If you just did that, how much would that change your outlook on life throughout your day?

This book is incredible, and so I'm going to continue to pick little pieces of this to share with you. The book is called "The Miracle Morning".

"Own your morning, Own your day".

I think it's super powerful. Watch your words, and take responsibility. I'm always here to help, you can send me a message. You can also go to ketomomsecrets.com if you want more recipes, you can also find the Book Club and look at the books that we've gone through.
