"Human nature is to live with a SOMEDAY mindset and to think life will work itself out".
Hey everybody! Welcome to the Keto Mom page. My name is Stephanie, and I've got a thought for you today from "The Miracle Morning" book. So as you're tuning in, where you're tuning in from?
I am with my entire family tuning in from Orlando, Florida. We are on a family vacation with my parents, my sisters, my brother, and all 14 grandkids. We are here to end the summer strong with a fun family vacation. Alright so going back, this is what we're going to talk about...
"When we fail to make time for personal development, we are forced to make time for pain and struggle".
Do you agree with that? Yes or No? Personal development could be quiet time, journaling, reading, listening to podcasts, or renewing your mind. I would say yes, I agree with this. We often talk about the determining factor of the power of your mindset...
"Human nature is to live with a SOMEDAY mindset and to think life will work itself out".
Have you ever thought about that? I hear people say this all the time, "It is what it is", "It'll all work itself out", "It'll figure itself out", "I'll start next week", or "I'll start someday"...
And in theory, I get it. Someday we'll do this and that. But what if the "SOMEDAY" never comes? It should be an everyday action on your part, to get to the results someday.
"Now matters more than any other time in your life, because it's what you're doing today that is determining who you're becoming. And who you're becoming will always determine the quality and direction of your life".
What are you going to do today to work on your health and fitness, relationships, or finances spoke? There are so many different areas of your life, so what are you going to do today to move that forward and to work on that? Are you always going to say "TOMORROW?"
"I'll take my spouse on a date tomorrow"
"I'm going to do it tomorrow".
"I'll have the conversation tomorrow".
"I'll go to the gym tomorrow".
"I'll start eating healthy tomorrow".
NO! Not Tomorrow, it should be Today!
"We spend too much time thinking about the actions that we should be taking to create the results that we want. But then we don't take the action. We all know what we need to do, we just don't consistently do what we know we need to do".
Can you relate? I get questions all the time about how to get started. What do I need to do?, or I've done this in the past I can't get back on track... Do you want to know what's so great? You know what you need to do.
If you're working on your health, you want to get stronger, fitter, leaner, and healthier. You know what you need to do, drink more water, move your body, get more sleep, be less stressed, and watch the food that you put in your mouth. Give yourself time to think, process, and slow down. Be mindful of the food that you're eating and how much food you're eating.
Consistent action over time is going to get you to where you want to go. It's just the time factor that not everybody likes. And I have to remind people that you didn't get here overnight, so you're not going to get there overnight.
TOOLS that will help you go further faster.
Alarm Clocks
This will help you get you up in the morning. You can put your phone in the other room so that you don't hit the snooze button.
Gym Membership or CrossFit.
It's pretty expensive to go to CrossFit. One of the reasons why I have a gym membership is doing something on my own is hard without accountability. If I do it alone, I don't go as fast as I want to go and I don't work out as hard as I would like to work out. But when I show up at the gym on a consistent basis, I get to do the workout that I need to do, because I have somebody telling me what to do and when to do it. I've got accountability.
So if you find yourself not being motivated or inspired to do something or you're not taking action. You might need to find an accountability partner.
"The 5 Second Rule" by Mel Robbins.
She said that you just need to count 5-4-3-2-1 to get yourself out of bed without hitting snooze before your brain starts thinking and making excuses.
(5-4-3-2-1) Get in the car to go to the gym.
(5-4-3-2-1) Put the doughnut down.
(5-4-3-2-1) Shake up your ketones.
You can almost trick yourself into doing anything. Or you can reverse it, but just give yourself 5 seconds... Before you eat something, give yourself five seconds to think. Is this a good choice or is there a better choice? Is this my best choice, or should I skip this and make something better? Before you instinctively grab things, give yourself some time to process them so you can make the best decision possible.
You know what you need to do, but it requires consistent action over time, understanding where you're going, and accountability.
If you just make these little tweaks, it will help you in the long run. So take action! Yes, tomorrow and next month, but let's start today...
Yesterday, we talked about how people focus on where they are today and where they want to go, but they tend to be so focused on the middle. Meaning they get so frustrated when they fail to do something or they don't see progress. In reality, you need to celebrate all the things you did today.
Focus on the things you did right. If you failed to do one thing, then just acknowledge that and do better tomorrow.
You also have to give yourself grace, you have to give yourself time. Count down and figure out if you're going to take action or a step back.
Alright! I hope you guys are having an incredible day. The book is called "The Miracle Morning" by Hal Elrod. It's an incredible book, and it's all about just owning your morning. It's not just for you but for your teenagers as well. I had my teenagers read this book and most personal development books that we have because I think it's important.
So if you have questions, just reach out to me. You can also go to ketomomsecrets.com where you can get a ton of recipes. You can also click on the Book club, or you can send me a message. I'm here to help. So that's all I have, I'm going to go hop in the pool with my kids.
