"Technology is a tool, but it can also distract people and ruin their most productive times. If you're like most people, you don't need an enemy to interrupt you. You already have one, perpetual distracted you. When technology runs us, it ruins us. Technology makes a wonderful servant, but it's a terrible master". ~Carey Nieuwhof
Welcome to the Keto Mom page, my name is Stephanie. Let's dive into "At Your Best" by Carey Nieuwhof. I like to do mindset in the mornings, because your words are going to seriously depict the way your thinking. Your words create your action, and those are the results that you will get.
A year and a half ago, I realized I was not serving anybody, by just giving them recipes and hoping they can figure it out. If I can't help you understand the power of your mindset, then you're just going to go around the same mountain over and over again.
I have been blessed to have mentors, people, books, and podcasts to learn from, so that I can help you. I'm going to give you some highlights from the chapter today, to help you with your time management.
This book is about time management. It will help you with your time, priorities, and your energy level. So that way, you can get most things done at your best time throughout your day. This book gives you a focused understanding of where you should be spending your time.
So we have four girls, two teenagers and two soon to be teenagers. And we have conversations about social media, telephone, and distractions. In this chapter the author is talking about distractions and how it affects your focus.
"Average users touch their phones 2,617 times a day average. Heavy users touch their phone 5,427 times a day".
And it also depends on what you're touching your phone for. We might not think that picking up our phone is a big deal because we don't think of it as a distraction. But the notifications on this phone hits your mind, creates dopamine, and you have to check or answer it.
For those who do everything on their phones, like I do my businesses on my phone. I have to be very mindful of when I'm on it. And when I'm not answering it, I actually shut off the notifications on my phone. I have my own work and my own time box, but I'm still not great at it.
"Technology is a tool, but it can also distract people and ruin their most productive times".
"If you're like most people, you don't need an enemy to interrupt you. You already have one, perpetual distracted you. When technology runs us, it ruins us. Technology makes a wonderful servant, but it's a terrible master".
"Paying attention to the wrong things cost you your priorities, goals, productivity, health, and even your family. Eventually it costs you your potential and your dreams".
What I love about this book is it helps you understand your time, energy, focus, and the things you're giving yes to. A lot of you say "Yes" to too many things that it becomes a distraction.
Be aware when we're in public, your words, or even your face. Awareness is key! People doing things and my girls are watching them, and they would say "They were not aware"...
So I hope that you can come here and understand the power of reading, having a mentor, or listening to a podcast, to give you awareness in life. If you lack awareness, you might end up grabbing the donut, going through the drive thru, not packing a lunch, or yelling at somebody.
Give yourself 5 seconds, either to react or respond. If you just sit back for two seconds and control yourself, as far as the words you're speaking or the things you're projecting.
It's all about awareness! Giving yourself some time to understand what you're doing and why you're doing it. Understanding the decisions that you're making or the words that you're speaking. You read to give yourself awareness, to make better choices, and to make better decisions.
"Find or create the most in undistracted environment that you can. Notifications on your device make you access content on other people's schedules, and most things that present themselves as urgent are not urgent. The quality of your work is determined by the quality of your thinking".
"Early mornings can be especially productive. It's not that everybody loves mornings, it's because there's less distractions early in the morning".
Most people are sleeping in, not focused, and they're not sending messages in the morning. It happens later in the day when they remember. So if you want to be productive, get up in the morning and own your morning.
So that's what this book is about. Your time management, priorities, and distractions. It's good awareness, to help you on your journey.
How does this help you with your fat loss?
Most people don't manage their time.
Most people sleep in.
Most people don't work out.
Most people let their day own them.
Most people let their day and other people own them.
Most poeple say "Yes" to too many things and not to their priorities.
It's the way that you look at your environment, situation, and the things that you're going through right now. It doesn't mean that it can't get better.
If you want it to be better, then you've got to start with your "Stinking Thinking".
Somebody who's going to listen to people that have already gone and done what you want to do, and then emulate what they've already done.
How do you walk through a minefield? You follow the person that's already gone through it. Value other people's wisdom and knowledge and then listen.
Find a mentor, meet with somebody, and ask questions. The key to getting to where you want to go is to take action. Take one thing that you've learned and implement it.
All right! Thanks for tuning in, I appreciate it. I hope you have a great day. We'll talk to you guys very soon. Bye everybody!
