"What you think leads you to what you need"...
~ Ed Mylett
Hey everybody! Welcome to the Keto Mom page. My name is Stephanie, and we have been going through the book "The Power of One More" by Ed Mylett. Usually, I do mindset in the mornings, and this book "The Power of One More" is an incredible book.
It's basically all about the concept of one more. One more rep, one more drive past the drive-thru and not going in, or one more NO to the donut. Can I do one more? Can you do one more? One more day of reaching our goals. One more day? Yes, we can do one more!
I'm going to give you one thought from this book. And I've also been reading again, "Atomic Habits" by James Clear, for myself. I've read this book probably five times, and I'll share with you something really simple about habits, that you could think about today.
"You don't rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems".
Look at your day and the systems that you have. Look at how your day goes, on a day-in and day-out basis. That is an example of a system, good or bad. And that system either gets you closer to your goals or further away.
A system is how your day runs. You don't rise to the level of your goals, or you set goals but you don't automatically hit them. You don't automatically get to them, you don't get lucky. People don't get lucky.
When you look at the goals that people have achieved, whether it's business, personal life, or their health journey, they didn't just get there. They had systems and habits, or things they did over time that got them there. You don't rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems. Think about that as you go throughout your day. Maybe that's why you're not reaching your goals because the systems are not in place.
I want to talk about the power of how to keep your habits on track, which will then create systems.
So try to rate yourself from one 1-5. One, being the systems that you're doing is not going to get you to your goals. Three to five would be, Yes! The systems that I have in place are going to get me there.
Do you have the systems in place to get you to your goals, or do you need to reevaluate where you're at?
A system is getting up, going to the gym, or working on your mindset. A system would be tracking, planning, and prepping your food throughout the week. It could be having an accountability partner. Someone you can message about all the things that you've done for the day.
Rate yourself from 1-5, and it's okay if it's a 1. Just like me, there are many things that I want to accomplish. There are things that I've got down, like reading and my food. And there are things that I'm still working on and haven't reached yet.
"How to keep your habits on track. Visual measurements come in many forms. Most people need a visual measurement to keep them moving forward".
So it's just like in kindergarten where they give you a gold star, for doing a good job. Go put a gold star on your calendar! Who are visual learners? I am a visual learner, I like to see things or have an understanding of things. My husband is a visionary, he can see things before they happen. He can visualize it in his mind, and he gets excited.
But unlike him, I need a picture so I can actually see it. I need to celebrate myself with a little golden star. I need to know that I'm working towards something, and I will do it five days in a row. So that on the sixth day, when I'm not feeling it, I'm going to do it. That's what I need, I don't know what you need.
"Most people need something to help them stay on track. For example, a food journal, workout logs, a loyalty punch card, or something to keep you focused".
Something to keep track of your habits. I have a list of things that I do every single day and they're called my DMOS (Daily Method of Operation).
Whether it's for personal or business, I have a list of the people that I message and groups that I pop into. I have a list of people that I encourage, the books that I'm reading, or things that move me through my morning to get me to where I want to go. If you don't have that, try to write it on a piece of paper. That's all it is, and it helps me remember what I'm doing and stay on track. When I'm done or when I accomplished something, I feel great.
"Countless people have tracked their habits, but perhaps the most famous is Benjamin Franklin. From the age of 20, Benjamin Franklin carried a small little pocket book, and every time he accomplished what he wanted to do, at the end of the day, he tracked a list of personal virtues and goals. He would get to the end of the day, he would open his pocketbook and write down all the things he's accomplished".
When you're done with a gym, give yourself a check mark or a golden star. Give yourself a visual or a habit tracker, where you can write down the things you want to do. You can also give yourself checkmarks, golden stars, or accountability to keep you going. So that one day, when you feel like you don't want to do because you don't see the progress. You can recall that you did it for five days, so why would you not do it today?
But we all have those days, I have it too. There are days where I don't want to do it, I don't feel like it, I don't feel like it's working, I haven't seen the fat loss or the muscle gain, I don't want to do it.
The only way you fail is if you quit! So you need to get back up and you keep going.
So don't break the chain, put something down so you can see it. That's one thing that you can do to help you on your health journey. If you're working on eating better, drinking more water, moving your body working on your mindset, write those things down. Send a message to you're my accountability partner, or maybe share it on social media for extra accountability. Do something so you can visibly see what you're working through. It is so powerful, and it will make you so happy.
So that was "Atomic Habits" by James Clear. I think it's truly an incredible book that can help you set up systems for you to create those goals that you're wanting to achieve. Alright! Going back to "The Power of One More" by Ed Mylett.
We talk about the power of mindset all the time. It's all about getting up and being thankful. Believe that you can accomplish your goals today and it's going to be great. Going to go to the gym, eating healthy, getting stronger, and becoming better.
Did you wake up with that mindset? What you think leads you to what you need. If you got up and you were in the right mindset, it's going to lead you to make better choices. But if you got up on the pity potty, you're probably going to go through the drive-thru, grab the donut, put the extra sugar in your coffee, whine and gripe about somebody at the office, not give somebody a smile, get home and do the same thing over and over again.
You've got to switch the pattern and work on your mindset. Otherwise, it's not going to work. I hope that you are reading, working on your mindset, and getting up with a joyful attitude. Believe that you can do it, but with the expectation that it's not going to happen tomorrow or next week. Get your goals to start today by doing the things that you want to do.
Read
Listen to a podcast, something that's going to encourage you
Be around like-minded people
Do the best that you can with your food
Drink water, get rid of the sugary drinks
Do not go through the drive-thru
Make and pack your lunch
Do the best that you can, so you can get your little golden star and feel accomplished about your day. Work on those habits every single day, so that you can create systems that will get you to where you want to go, in time. What you think leads to what you need.
I don't care which book you're reading, you can tune in here every single day. You just have to do the power of one more. If you don't feel like your morning went well, it doesn't define the rest of your day. You can get your booty back up and keep moving forward. Put a smile on your face, raise your eyebrows, change the way your body feels, and dominate the rest of your day.
If you're doing great today, awesome. Go and encourage somebody else who doesn't look like they're having a great day. Tell them today's going to be a great day, and you can still shift at any point in time. It's up to you! It's not up to your mom, your dad, your boss, your husband, your wife, or your kids.
You have to do it for yourself because when you're filled up, you can overflow into other people.
It's going to be a great day! You can always visit our blog, (ketomomsecrets.com) for any books that we've done on the book club. And remember, what you think about is what you're going to get. You can read it in any single book that's on personal development.
"As I think, so I feel. As I feel so, I do. As I do, so I have".
So as I think so I feel, it creates an emotion, good or bad. As I feel so I do. My good or bad emotions help me do the actions or make my choices. And as I do, so I have. You have the results of your choices and your feelings, which start with your thinking. T
Okay! I hope you guys have a great morning. Your presence matters, and we'll talk to you soon.
