The Wealth Money Can't Buy

We're taking on an inspiring journey by diving deep into "The Wealth Money Can't Buy" by Robin Sharma, and sharing its wisdom with you all. The idea that wealth extends far beyond money and into aspects of personal growth, kindness, and living a balanced life is a powerful message.

I'm going to be going through this book for the rest of the year, and it will be giving us a thought for the day. It will give us an idea of how wealth really looks like or a different way to understand what wealth can look like in your life and not just based on money. It's about how to be a good person, it talks about practical life tips, and how to be kind.

SLOPPY DAYS

Often times people think that their whole lives need to be a grind. It's like a never ending cycle of working from sun up to sun down and being constantly in this state of "It's never going to be enough".

The concept of allowing oneself to rest and have "sloppy" days without guilt is essential, especially in a world that often glorifies constant hustle. By embracing the ebb and flow of productivity, you can avoid burnout and maintain your passion for what truly matters.

"It's okay to be less than perfect when it comes to your inner life. Self mastery and personal growth must never be a grind".

He talked about lots of different areas in your life, and how every day should not be a grind. I personally was taught these concepts for the last nine years. "If you want it, you've got to work for it". "You've got to get up, go and you can't let go". It's a constant state of wanting it and doing it right.

And that's what's going to drain your magic if you're at a constant grind and you don't take a couple days off to be sloppy. It's about recognizing the importance of rest, understanding that perfection isn't required, and finding the balance is what allows you to thrive.

"A glorious human experience must have some mess to it. Sometimes a strategic laziness in it, some breathtaking days of serious sloppiness where all we do is just allow ourselves to leave the bed unmade, calls unanswered and the dishes unwashed".

"We're not machines, we're humans. Embrace the season when it doesn't seem like much is happening, as a farmer accepts the fallow season as well as the times of harvest. Understanding that without the first one, the spectacular growth of the latter one would really not be possible. Honor the days where you have all the drive in the world and rest more on the days that you don't, and it is okay to have a sloppy day".

This quote beautifully captures the essence of living a balanced and authentic life. It reminds us that perfection is not the goal, and that allowing ourselves moments of "strategic laziness" or "serious sloppiness" is not only okay, but necessary. Just as farmers respect the natural cycles of growth and rest, we too should honor our own rhythms.

By embracing the messiness and imperfection of life, we give ourselves permission to rest and recharge, recognizing that these "fallow seasons" are essential for our overall well-being and future growth. The idea that spectacular growth wouldn't be possible without these periods of rest is a powerful reminder to be kinder to ourselves, to acknowledge our humanity, and to understand that it's okay to step back and breathe.

On days when you feel all the drive in the world, go for it. But on those days when you don't, remember that it's okay to leave the bed unmade, let the dishes pile up, and allow yourself the space to simply be. This balance is what makes life rich, meaningful, and ultimately sustainable.

BURNOUTS

Burnouts can be incredibly overwhelming, especially when it feels like the drive that once fueled you has completely vanished. The cycle of constantly pushing yourself without allowing for rest can lead to a breaking point where everything just seems too much. It’s not uncommon to swing to the extreme opposite, feeling like you need to shut down completely.

"Learning to give yourself grace is crucial in this recovery process. It’s about recognizing that you’re human and that rest is not just a luxury, but a necessity".

It’s okay to step back and allow yourself to recharge, even if it feels opposite to your usual mindset of constant productivity. By acknowledging your need for rest and embracing those "sloppy" days, you can gradually find a healthier balance and start to reignite your passion for the things that truly matter.

Remember, it’s a journey. Allow yourself the space to heal and rebuild at a pace that honors your well-being.

Yesterday, when I picked up this book and decided to talk about it, I got the spark back. There are gifts and talents that are unique to each of us, and they serve a purpose in our lives and in the lives of others. There are seasons in life where rest is necessary, where we step back and allow ourselves to recuperate, reflect, and realign with our purpose. But there also comes a time when we feel the nudge to step back into our calling, to use the gifts we've been given and fulfill the roles we’re meant to play.

The rest season is not wasted time; it's a vital part of the process that prepares us for the next chapter. As you begin to feel that it's time to start anew or pick something back up, embrace it with a renewed sense of purpose. Trust that the rest you've taken has equipped you with fresh energy, insights, and clarity to move forward.

I'm excited to go through this book with all of you. Thank you for tuning in! You can visit us at ketomomsecrets.com, look for book club or how to get started. Have a wonderful day and I'll talk to you soon.
