We're diving into "The Wealth Money Can't Buy" by Robin Sharma. This book explores the deeper dimensions of living a meaningful life, emphasizing that true wealth goes beyond material possessions. It encourages readers to focus on inner richness, purpose, relationships, and personal growth.
DEFEND THE HEALTH OF YOUR MIND
"Gratefulness really is the antidote to worry".
I try not to worry but as a mom of four girls I do. It's hard not to worry, but gratefulness shifts that.
It's natural to worry, but choosing gratitude helps reframe your mindset. When you focus on what you're thankful for, it redirects your energy away from anxiety and toward positivity and peace.
Gratitude is a powerful antidote to worry.
STORY TIME
A great example would be the movie "Unsung Hero". It's based on a true story about an incredible family, and in the story they used these post-it notes. On one side of the wall, they had a post-it note that said "Please God", which had everything they were praying for. And then if that prayer was answered, they would move the post-it note to the "Thank You" side of the wall.
We all see little pieces of people's lives on social media. And my family and I, we're blessed and highly favored. Do I feel like we're in an easy, simple, coasting through life season. Absolutely "NOT"! Do I feel like our family is in a hallway of some uncertainty, yes!
I'm not fearful, but there are a lot of things that we're praying and believing for. And in those moments, worry can come into our minds. But let's all cast our worries and cares upon Him, for he cares for all of us.
We all need to be grateful. If there's a seed of doubt that pops into our minds, let's grab it and shift it.
Gratitude is a practice that can reshape our mindset. When doubt or negativity creeps in, we have the power to acknowledge it, stop it in its tracks, and intentionally replace it with thankfulness. By doing this, we train our minds to focus on abundance and blessings instead of fear or on what we lack.
Yesterday I was staring at all the "Please God" that were not yet being answered, but then I saw two Thank You God, and I shifted into a heart of gratitude which took my worries away.
Shifting your focus from what’s missing to what’s already present is transformative. By acknowledging those “Thank You God” moments, you anchor yourself in gratitude and trust, which helps ease worry. It’s a beautiful reminder that even in the waiting, blessings are unfolding. Keep looking for those "Thank You" moment, they have a way of multiplying.
MENTAL FITNESS
"Just like how we take care of our bodies. Mental fitness is just as important. What's the point of having a healthy body with an unwell mind. Protecting your mind and your mental condition also elevates your physical life".
They say that our mind naturally looks for the negative side of things. I heard a phrase yesterday which I completely disagree on.
"Expect the worst and hope for the best"
If we're expecting the worst, then our mindset is not on gratitude. This tells us that we are hardwired to look for the negativity and problems. This causes us to be on guard to make sure that something doesn't go wrong.
When we focus on expecting the worst, we close ourselves off from seeing the good that’s already present or the blessings that might be coming our way. Gratitude shifts our perspective, allowing us to notice the positives and approach challenges with hope instead of fear. It’s a mindset reset that not only lifts us up but also shapes how we experience life. What we expect, we often attract—so why not expect the best?
4 Regular Practices That Will Help With Mental Wellness.
1. Write a "How could this be worse" paragraph.
This will help shift your thinking from a state of toxicity to one of thankfulness, because you're actually not in that worse situation.
2. Get good at Savoring.
Psychologists have found that the happiest, healthiest people have a common trait. They make a point at savoring, meaning they look at something good that happens, they slow down, and take it in.
I love looking at the sky. Every time I walk outside, I look at the clouds and its different colors. I make it a point to thank the Lord for the beauty.
So if there's something that catches your eye, take a second and just express gratitude for it. Slow down and just savor the moment.
3. Improve your Self Talk.
Most of us would never speak as harshly to others as we speak to ourselves. Be kinder to yourself.
4. Be actively Helpful.
To give yourself in service to others, is to release yourself from the worry, negativity, and anxiety of the world. How you make somebody else's life better, will ultimately help your own mindset.
Serving others shifts the focus away from our own worries and challenges, creating a sense of purpose and fulfillment. When we pour kindness and support into someone else's life, we often find our own burdens feel lighter, and our perspective transforms.
Helping others not only uplifts them but also allows us to experience joy, connection, and gratitude.
