Where To Get Wisdom? (The Noticer by Andy Andrews)

"Wisdom can change and vary in the course of your life. You gain wisdom by the people that you surround yourself with, by the books that you read and the things that you listen to and watch". ~Andy Andrews

Good morning! Welcome to the Keto Mom page. My name is Stephanie and how are you doing this morning? It's a beautiful, sunny, crisp morning here in Minnesota. Where are you tuning from? We're going through a book called "The Noticer" by Andy Andrews.

And by the way, you can always go to ketomomsecrets.com and check out some keto or low-carb recipes that have been shared for seven years. You can also check the Keto Mom book club and some trial packs for Mom fuel or Keto NAT.

My ultimate goal is to help you understand your mindset. And seven years ago, I started this page to simply give people recipes to help them on their journeys.

I'm a homeschool mom of four girls and we live in Minnesota. I have been coaching people on what works for us.
  • Water intake.

  • What are you eating?

  • How to get started?

And I will give you a basic food list. But remember that your goals and your body is different than other people. Oftentimes we can look at other people and compare... "I'm not having the success that they're having", "I'm not looking like that", "Why did she?", or "How come it's not me?"...

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆'𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁.

Sometimes people will ask me to give them a menu or to tell them exactly what they're supposed to eat... And I usually say "NO, but I can help you figure it out".

  • How to track your food?

  • How much water you should be drinking?

  • Do you need to be strict or more mindful?

Over a year ago, I told my husband that I felt like I was telling people the same thing over and over again. There's actually a large number of people that do well for a little while, they don't quite, they implement the idea of a lifestyle, and they do great.

But then all of a sudden they go back and end up starting over again at some point in time. And that's when I realized that people need to know more than just "How to eat". You have to have the right mindset of understanding what you truly want.

That's why I started reading books here on the Keto mom page, and going through things to help give you an understanding that your fat loss journey is more than just the food that you put in your mouth.

So with all of that said, we're going through this book, called "The Noticer" by Andy Andrews. It's a book of awareness and it's in a story form. It is going to help you have awareness and perspective.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀?
Our main character, Jones, chooses somebody whom he can bring awareness to. In this chapter, Jones is speaking to teenagers or a group of kids.
He talked about wisdom, where to get wisdom, and about the importance of paying attention to who you're around.

It's not just for kids, it's for adults too.

We have been coaching our daughters on things like friendships and girls. It goes with you into adulthood, these problems or challenges go away, you learn how to adapt, and hopefully, you become wiser as you get older.

"Wisdom can change and vary in the course of your life. You gain wisdom by the people that you surround yourself with, by the books that you read, and the things that you listen to and watch".

Let's say you've set a goal of I want to get fitter, thinner, feel better, but your face is glued to the TV during the evenings or mornings.

You're just scrolling through, and you make excuses for the things that you are watching or listening to, the people you surround yourself with, and the things that you are reading. These will play a huge factor in the results that you are getting or not getting.

So he's telling these kids that if your goal is to switch something up. If you're not getting the results that you want, then pay attention to whom you're around.

  • What are you watching?

  • Are you wasting time?

  • Are you reading good books?

  • Are finding a mentor?

  • Are you listening to garbage?

Truth or Trash

Is the stuff you're listening to or putting in your eyes, going to serve you and help you become a better person? Or is it going to take you down a spiral of negativity?

"Bad information is gathered in your downtime. Bad information that can change the very course of your life".

One of the wisdom's greatest benefits is to be able to accurately discern the learned ability to immediately tell...

  • Right from wrong

  • Good from evil

  • Acceptable from unacceptable

  • Time well spent from time wasted

  • The right decision from the wrong decision

"𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲".
How do we do that?

  • Plug into people that are going to uplift you.

  • Listen to things that are going to serve you.

  • Listen to things that are going to teach you.

  • Take action.

If you've been here for years, then you really are equipped with all of the information you need to know in order to take action. Oftentimes people will read and listen, which is great, and they'll get around great people. But the next part is on you...

  • Buying the books.

  • Listening to the podcast.

  • Taking the action.

  • Making better choices on your food. Drinking water instead of pop.

The action part is going to get you to the place that you want to go.

Oftentimes, people feel like they don't have enough information and so they listen to all of these people, books, and podcasts. They feel like they're doing something because they're taking notes or journaling. But in fact, they're actually not doing anything.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗼.
One of the secrets to success is, after gathering information and learning from other people. You have to take action.

Everybody has different goals, different expectations, different bodies, and different mindsets. But action is going to take you to where you want to go. It's not just listening to me or other people online. Although all of those things can help you have a better mindset, you have to do the actions needed to get you moving forward.

"One way to define wisdom is the ability to see into the future, the consequences of the choices that you do in the present.
Wisdom will allow a person to split the hairs of choice so accurately that most men would say it's impossible".

𝗜 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆.

I just want wisdom to help our children and to help people on the Keto Mom page. I want wisdom to make the best choices possible, to be able to decide if this is going to result in a consequence or a reward.

Where will this action lead me, my child, or my family discernment? It's super important.

A true person with true discernment, true understanding, and really seeking what's best, can also define what is good and what is best. Oftentimes, people feel like this is good, this is great. Some people would say, "This is good for me", or "I can do this"... But there might be a better, or best option for you.

Not all things that are good, are the things that you should be doing.

How do I decide if I'm around the right group of friends?

𝗔 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲, 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿.
"One can walk through the forest and never ever look up. But you can pick a single leaf and know all sorts of information about the tree that you're standing underneath".
"You can tell a lot about a person from the leaves that they drop. You don't have to be around somebody very long. You can pay attention to the things that are in their life, and you can know a lot about that person".

Whether they make excuses, listen to the words that come out of their mouths, look at people's fruit or their leaves, and the things they leave behind or the things they say.

If you look at people's lives, you should be able to learn from that person. That person has fruits in their life, and that person has some great leads that you want to learn and grow from.

You can also learn from that person the things that you should not do. I'm going to not do that, not go there, or not watch this.

Pay attention to what people do, what they say, and the things they watch. That will also show you where their life is headed. The same for you even as an adult, it doesn't change.

𝗣𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂.
The people that you're around and the things that you're watching, will help navigate your life and the direction that you're going. Good or bad, right or wrong.

The choices that you're making have consequences or rewards and it's important for you to know that.

All right! That's it! It's going to be a great day. Thank you for tuning in. If you have questions, send me a message, I'm here to help. I hope you have an incredible morning and we'll talk to you soon
