Keto Mom here!
Why are we not feeding our bodies and our minds with the best that we can. We sit and watch mindless TV, scroll mindlessly on social media and compare ourselves to other people. We listen to garbage music, we watch garbage TV shows. We call these things in our home truth or trash, stuff that does not add value to our life. And if you're allowing that up in your mind, then that is going to create the root of why you do certain things in your life.

Good morning! Welcome to the Keto Mom page, my name is Stephanie. It's a little bit late than usual, we are getting all four of our daughters ready to go to camp for four days. We're going through "Winning the War in your Mind" by Craig Groeschel, and we are on chapter five. I want to check in real quick, how are you doing and how are you liking the book? This morning, we were running around getting suitcases packed. The girls are heading off to camp, which is weird, because they rarely leave us for that. I don't know when the last time I did not have my kids with me. Not that they ever haven't been but it's okay, they'll all be together. And we're just going to be here, it's going to be great. Now we've got some stuff planned, so where are you tuning in from? We're going to go over this real quick, Chapter Five of "Winning the War with your Mind"... I talked to somebody last night at my church in our ladies group, and she said "I can't keep up".
And I said to her "You don't have to! My hope, and my goal is to help you learn to love to read, or to pay attention to the things that you're putting into your mind, to pay attention to the words that you're speaking"...
All of the books that we've read have the basic same concept. They give you the same understanding and the same tools of here's what you need to do. Everybody learns differently, everybody's voices speak to you differently. So maybe one book didn't quite speak to you, but this book did, it has the same idea, but just a different way it's written.
And so going back to Chapter five, this one's talking about "Creating a Trench of Truth". He says "The problem with how we attack our problems is that we go after the problem"... So what is your problem? You want to lose weight, you want to feel better, you want better relationships, or you want to be a better parent. "Whatever the problem is, we focus solely on the problem by making a commitment to start and stop doing something. We've done this before, you decide you're not going to do something. I'm going to quit smoking this year, I'm going to eat healthy and exercise every day"...
We make a decision, and then what happens? "Behavior modification doesn't work, because the focus is only on the modification of the behavior. You don't get to the root of the problem, which is the thought that produces the behavior"... And so he gives an example, he says 'You look out a window, and you're looking at your yard. You see an ugly tree outside. So you walk outside and you cut the branch off the tree, you walk inside. The next morning, you wake up expecting the tree to be gone, because you cut the branch off. You're changing the one behavior and the trees not gone. Why?"... He said "You can't expect the tree to be gone because the tree isn't the problem. Actually, the root system of the tree is the main culprit. If you don't remove the root system, when you cut down the tree, it will still grow back"... If you just say I'm going to eat healthier, but you don't get to the root of why you were eating the way you're eating. It won't change. If you can't figure out why, when you're super emotional you eat food. I'm talking about food right now because that's probably why you're here.
So when you find yourself overeating. It's not just the food and you can't just say I'm going to eat healthier. You got to figure out why you're doing it. Why are you overeating? Are you emotional and why are you emotional? Is it that time of the month? What's the trigger? Did somebody say something and is it like a response when somebody says you're not good enough? Is it a response towards the social media of comparison? Is it because the clock simply says to eat? Are you so ingrained that your neural pathway says tells you "It's eight o'clock, that's breakfast", "I eat lunch at noon", "I eat supper at five and a have two snacks a day"...
It's all up in your mind, and if you can't figure out the root cause of why you're doing something, that is the number one first thing we have to do.
What is causing you to overeat? what is causing you to go through the drive thru? What is the root of the problem? If you can get that root out, we can replace it with the truth.
So then he says "Thinking I can change a behavior just by removing the behavior is absurd. The behavior isn't the root problem. The renewal pathway that leads me to the behavior is the problem. And if I stop a behavior, it will come back, unless I remove the lie at the root of the behavior and replace the neural pathway that leads me to the behavior"... Why are you eating this way and why do you go through the drive thru? Why are you not working out and why are you hitting the alarm clock?... Let's figure out the why you're doing it. That's the root and we're going to have to get rid of it. He talks about replacing the lies, and about declarations. Have you guys ever heard of declarations? Looking at yourself in the mirror and saying things as if they were truth, even though you don't believe them.
There were some ladies that I was talking to last night and one said "I used to stare in the mirror and have to tell myself, I am worthy, I am beautiful, I am successful, I can do this"... Even though she didn't quite believe it at that time. But she said "I've got to put the truth in, until I believe it"... A declaration.
You can have a declaration for anything in your life. Pastor Craig talks about how he had some issues with what he believed with money. So he wrote a declaration about money, about being blessed, about not being stressed, about owning stuff, about the way he feels, and he gives you all of these examples. In the book, he says "You need to write it down, you need to think it, you need to confess it, you need to write down the declaration of what you want to do"...
You could write a declaration about I am fit and strong. I'm not going to be controlled by emotions, and I have control over my food. We could write something down. So you're gonna write it, you're going to think it and you're going to say it.
And just like the other books that we've read, this says the same thing "What we put in our minds comes out in our lives. Every action we take every word that we say in every attitude we express originates in our thoughts"... What are you putting in your mind? Right now you're listening to me, and I'm super honored. We're listening and we're reading the book, the book is great. And he talks about, if you have a high performance car, you don't put garbage gasoline in it.
He's like, if you have an animal, a dog that you love, you're going to give it the best food that you can. I would challenge you to listen to a song today. If you listen to certain music, I want you to listen to what they're speaking. Is it positive, is it like uplifting, is it putting something great in your mind? Or is it trash? There is a difference between trashy movies, trashy TV shows, gossip, and certain people speaking into your life. And if you're allowing that up in your mind, then that is going to create the root of why you do certain things in your life. So he even says that "Studies reveal that we are bombarded by about five hundred unintentional and intrusive thoughts a day. Each unwanted thought lasts about fifteen seconds. Do the math, that's almost two hours a day that we are thinking things that we don't need to be thinking or listening to things we don't need to be listening to. That ultimately creates the root of the problem in our life and why we do things today"...
What you put in your mind, or what's in your heart, comes out in your mouth. And it causes you to react a certain way.
He goes on, he talks more about declaration, and then at the end of every chapter he gives you an exercise. He says "We're going to start digging in the trenches out with truth"... So he's going to helps you identify the "whys" again and help you start writing your declaration to change your thought pattern. And sometimes you have to say it over and over again until you believe it.
So here's the book that we were going to do for September. We were going to do "Think and Grow Rich", it's not what you think and it's actually quite deceiving, it's an incredible book. But I am going through this book with a whole bunch of ladies. It's called "Dream it, Pin it, Live it" by Terri Savelle Foy. This is something that we would probably go through in January and I thought why should we wait to create a vision board. Has anybody done vision boards before? I have done tons of vision boarding. I've listened to tons of people talk about why do you do a vision board and how to do a vision board. We do them with our company, we do them with our team. And this lady (Terri Savelle Foy) changed the way that I look at vision boards. My vision board is going to be done soon, differently. It is incredible, and I would love to not wait until January because it's the new year to create a vision board. I'd love to do it right now.
And so there's this book and there's a workbook. She actually has videos and I want to see if there's a way I can get you to watch the video. She's so funny, again, it's biblically based. Whether you want to do it or not do it, I'm just letting you know, just like this book is written by a pastor. My husband used to work for this church, when we still lived in Oklahoma. We live in Minnesota now, but it's more than just wanting a car. It's more than just wanting things and things aren't bad. I'm going to coach you through it. I'm going to create my vision board this week and I will share it with you. But I think we should do "Dream it, Pin it, Live it" first, I need you to vote Okay. And yes, I used to live in Oklahoma, Edmond, right outside Oklahoma City. My husband used to work for Life Church. So he was on the youversion Bible app team, he helped create the app. We love that season of our life, it was much needed. And it's who we are today, because we were there.
So we can either do "Dream it, Pin it, Live it" by Terri Savelle Foy. I'll find a link to get her book, I think we should buy it from her. I would as often as can, prefer to buy the book from the author rather than Amazon or anywhere else.
So tell me do you want "Dream it, Pin it, Live it", do we want to go through vision boards or do we want to read "Think and Grow Rich". Okay, so vote, let me know, I'm going to put a poll on my stories. So for now we're going to continue "Winning the War in your Mind". I'm not going to start the next book until September because I feel like people are getting ready for school. We will get done with "Winning the War in your Mind" early. And I'm just going to do some recap, rethinking and re anchoring of all the things that we've done over the last few months until we get to September. Okay, I think the vision board book is going to be the one that's voted for. Continue to tune into the page, where I always share recipes and tips and tricks throughout the day. I appreciate you all I got ta go get my kids ready, they're going to camp for four days. It's going to be great, they're going to love it, it's through our church.
Otherwise, I hope you guys have a wonderful day, and we'll talk to you soon.
